DMT, Magic Mushrooms, Heroin, Nitrous Oxide, and Widespread Panic, Oh My!

Grateful Donuts Shop owner Sean Culwell came to Nashville for the Widespread Panic concert this weekend, and brought more than sweet treats with him. Metro Police found him huffing nitrous oxide with heroin,psychedelic mushrooms, DMT powder, and an assortment of other drugs.

Metro Nashville Police responded to a suspicious vehicle call on Cannery Row with Alabama tags early Monday morning. The occupant was identified as Sean Culwell, owner of Grateful Donuts, from Alabama. In plain view officers observed several nitrous oxide canisters and balloons, indicative of huffing. Culwell told police he was in town for a Widespread Panic concert.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and resulted in:

  • Nitrous canisters / balloons
  • multiple needles
  • heroin
  • THC inhaler
  • 2 bags of psychedelic mushrooms
  • 3 meth pipes
  • Ambien, Clonazepam, Oxycodone, Tramadol
  • 1.5 grams DMT powder
  • 13.9 grams of psychedelic mushrooms

Culwell claimed ownership of all off the drugs except the heroin, which he says someone left it in his vehicle from the night before. He also admitted he was huffing the nitrous oxide. 34-year-old Sean Culwell was booked into the Metro Jail at 2:44 a.m. Monday, charged with 1 count toxic vapors(huffing), 1 count drug paraphernalia, 4 counts of drug possession, and 4 counts of possession of a drug without a prescription. He was freed on pre-trial release just before 8 a.m.
