23-year-old Nicholas Perry Snyder told Metro Police his friends dared him to swim across the Cumberland River with his clothes and shoes on at 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

Metro Nashville Police watched Nicholas Snyder jump into the Cumberland River Saturday morning, and attempt to swim across the river fully clothed, to include his shoes. He reportedly only made it about halfway across before he turned back. Police say they made contact with him, and observed obvious signs of intoxication, and he told them he was dared by his friends to swim across the river after they had been drinking heavily. Police deemed him to be a danger to himself or others, and booked him on the charge of public intoxication, which was dismissed after he sobered up.
