TSU Quaterback Demry Croft Indicted on Rape & Sexual Battery Charges – 8 Counts

22-year-old Tennessee State University Quarterback Demry Croft has been charged on 6 counts of rape and 2 counts of sexual battery in a just unsealed Grand Jury indictment. He surrendered himself to be booked, and is free on a $50,000 bond.

This is a developing story and we will provide more details as they become available shortly. Demry Croft was booked into the Metro Jail Monday at 2:04 p.m. and was released on bail at 6:18 p.m.

After undergoing surgery in the off-season, Demry Croft came back to the first team at TSU when preseason practice began earlier this month. Croft underwent shoulder surgery before returning to the first team when practice began this year. He transferred from Minnesota and started in the first four games of last year before he ended that season with an injury.

Tennessee State University provided the following statement after our initial publication:

The University is aware that a student athlete was arrested in a criminal matter. Due to federal and state student privacy laws, no further comment can be made at this time. However, the University takes seriously any allegation of sexual misconduct that may affect our campus community.
