42-year-old Matthew Mueller is free on a $2,000 bond after police say he punched his girlfriend in the mouth once, then did it again when she yelled at him for the first punch. Mueller didn’t remember the incident but told police it “seemed like” he had done so.
Metro Nashville Police responded to an East Nashville residence late Sunday evening when a female victim reported that her boyfriend, Matthew Mueller, struck her in the face. She told responding officers that she had returned home after being out at a restaurant drinking and got into a verbal disagreement with Matthew after he did not pick her up or answer her phone calls or texts.
She told police that Matthew was intoxicated when she returned home and yelled at her to “Shut the fuck up”, and when she spoke after that, he punched her in the mouth with a closed fist. She then yelled at him for the assault, and he punched her in the mouth a second time.
Officers noted lacerations to her lip, with blood and swelling on the impacted area. Matthew Mueller told police he “wasn’t sure” if he had struck his girlfriend, but it “seemed like” he had done so. He was booked and charged with domestic assault and posted a $2,000 bond after the state-mandated 12-hour domestic violence hold.
