Clarksville man uses gay hookup app Grindr to rob/extort another man for $45

CLARKSVILLE, TN: 30-year-old Teyron Bland is charged with robbery after he enticed a man to meet him on Grindr, then held his phone hostage, demanding $45 for its return.

On November 27, a 28-year-old man traveling from Georgia communicated with a Clarksville man, Teyron Bland, through the “Grinder” online dating app and they decided to meet. Teyron Bland provided a residential address in Clarksville for them to rendezvous.  When they met and went inside of the residence, the Georgia man set down his phone, at which time, Bland took it and demanded money for its return.

The Georgia man opted to leave the phone behind, exited the residence, and got into his vehicle.  Bland followed him out, reached through the driver’s side window, grabbed the steering wheel and the man’s shirt collar and threatened him with harm.  The man gave him $45,  the phone was returned, and the victim left the immediate area and called the police.  

Police reviewed text correspondence between the two men and used a photo lineup to identify Teyron Bland as the person who robbed the Georgia man. Teyron Bland, 30, was located, taken into custody, and booked into the Montgomery County Jail for ROBBERY; BOND: $10,000. CPD Officer Schohn investigated the Robbery.
