On December 1, 2019, officers observed Joshua Gilley fighting with another individual. Officers separated them. Several witnesses stated that Gilley had been trying to fight with other people in the downtown Nashville entertainment district that night. Officers observed that Gilley was unsteady on his feet with slurred and confused words. His eyes were bloodshot and watery and the smell of alcohol was strong on his breath.

Both parties involved in the altercation declined to press charges. Gilley did not have anyone with him to help care for him so he was placed under arrest for public intoxication as he was believed to be a danger to himself and others as well as causing unreasonable annoyance to the public. The other individual was left in the care of friends.

Joshua Gilley was charged with public intoxication and the charges were dismissed after he sobered up.
