22-year-old Riverbend Maximum Security Prison Guard, Evelisse Erika Maas, is free on pre-trial release after prison officials located 2 cell phones hidden inside a container of Hamburger Helper in her bag she was bringing into work.
At 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Evelisse Maas was reporting for duty at the maximum-security prison located on Cockrill Bend Blvd. in Nashville, and placed her work bag on the x-ray machine for screening, as per her usual routine. Correctional Officer Tanesha Murray was working the checkpoint, and observed what appeared to be a cellphone in the bag, and conducted a further inspection of the bag being brought into the prison.
Correctional Officer John Culver found 2 cellular phones inside the bag, hidden inside a container of Hamburger Helper. Special Agent Ramon Sherrell with the Tennessee Department of Correction interviewed Maas, who waived her rights and admitted to purchasing the two phones to bring into the prison for an inmate at the maximum-security facility.

Maas was arrested and booked into the Metro Nashville jail, charged with bringing contraband (telecommunications device) into a penal institution – a felony in Tennessee. She was freed on pre-trial release.
