31-year-old Landon Wilkinson is charged with DUI and unlawful possession of a controlled substance after he was found asleep in his vehicle while it was running. On New Year’s Day, Metro Nashville Police Officers responded to a possible medical call on Demonbreun Street due to the defendant, later identified as Landon Wilkinson, sleeping in the front seat of his vehicle with the vehicle running. Officers arrived, observed Landon and removed the keys from the ignition. There was an apparent odor of alcohol coming Landon’s person. Officers woke Landon and his words were slurred while speaking, he had red, watery eyes, and was also unsteady on his feet.
A 12-ounce bottle of Bud Light Beer was seen in the center cupholder which had a small amount of beer still inside it. Officers also located a small bag of marijuana along with a lid to a soda bottle that had a socket wrench attachment that smelled of marijuana. Landon refused to perform any of the standard field sobriety tasks and was then read the implied consent law but refused to provide a breath sample for testing as well. Landon was taken into custody due to his level of intoxication and being unable to care for himself.
Landon Wilkinson has been charged with DUI, drug possession, drug paraphernalia, and violation of the implied consent law. He is free on a $3500 bond.
