Metro Nashville Police charged 41-year-old Emily Roussel with domestic assault (offensive/provocative conduct) after she threw a glass of milk on her boyfriend because he “said something mean to her” during an argument about taking time off for her birthday.

Metro Officers responded to The Cove at Priest Lake Apartments Tuesday night in response to a reported domestic disturbance. When they arrived they located Emily Roussell, 41, outside of her apartment, crying. She told the officer she and her boyfriend, Eric Connell, were fighting over him not being able to get off work for her birthday.

She told police that Connell said “something mean” to her, so she threw a glass of milk on him. He did not wish to prosecute, however, Metro Police Officer Tyler Ray Hall says he had to arrest her for the assault, due to her admission, so he prosecuted on behalf of the victim. Emily Rossell was placed into custody and charged with domestic assault with provocative contact. After a 12-hour hold, she will be released on a $1,000 bond.
