35-year-old Rasheed Davis was charged with felon in possession of a handgun, theft of property, and driving without a license after police pulled him over for having a Kentucky plate registered to a Chevy on a stolen Dodge Avenger he was driving.
On February 12th, officers were patrolling the area of Dr. D B Todd Jr Boulevard and Cockrill Street when officers witnessed a Dodge Avenger with a Kentucky license plate that was registered to a Chevy. Officers knew of a Dodge Avenger that was stolen and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle in question on Clarksville Pike. Rasheed Davis stated to officers that he put his Chevy tags on the Avenger. Police then verified the VIN on the Avenger and that it had been reported stolen in NCIC.

Rasheed showed officers some paperwork that alleged that he had purchased the vehicle but they were not able to verify the validity of the paperwork provided. Officers asked if Rasheed had a firearm in the vehicle to which he replied “no”, but a subsequent search produced a loaded Taurus .45 caliber handgun that was discovered under the passenger seat. Rasheed had felony convictions in Texas and after being Mirandized, he admitted to the felony convictions. He also did not possess a driver’s license.
Rasheed Davis was arrested and charged with Felon in Possession of a Handgun, Theft of Property, and Driving Without a License. His bond was set at $2,500.
