Woman grabs gun while being choked by boyfriend, who she allegedly slapped

28-year-old Nicholas Chowning was charged with aggravated domestic assault with strangulation after he choked his girlfriend for slapping him in the face while he was intoxicated.

Kassidy Skarison, the victim, and Nicholas Chowning are dating. Kassidy stated that she was asleep at Nicholas’ home on Lincoya Bay and he returned home around 4:00 a.m. on February 4th after drinking at Rebar Midtown. She went on to say that Nicholas woke her up and began to argue with her while attempting to move her to the other side of the bed. As he attempted this, Kassidy smacked him in the face. Nicholas became upset and started to choke her until she could not breathe.

Kassidy said that as she was starting to lose consciousness, she reached for a gun that was on the nightstand When she grabbed it, Nicholas grabbed it as well and took it from her. As Nicholas stepped away to lock the gun up, Kassidy left and went back to her residence.

Nicholas Chowning was arrested and charged with Aggravated Domestic Assault with Strangulation. His bond was set at $15,000.
