Group of adults and juveniles break into Cane Ridge High School

19-year-old Deonte Franklin, 18-year-old Daunte Young, and 18-year-old Temara Spain were charged with burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Deonte was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. These charges arose after they and 3 other defendants were found Cane Ridge High School after hours without permission to be there.

At around a quarter to 1:00 a.m. on 2/05/20, Metro Nashville Public School security called in to state that they witnessed multiple people inside Cane Ridge High School on Old Hickory Boulevard. MNPS security said that one of the individuals was carrying a box of food and water that belonged to the school, valued at approximately $20.00. Officers were dispatched to the scene and formed a perimeter around the school. MNPS security gave MNPD officers constant updates on the defendants’ whereabouts inside the school thanks to the surveillance system.

The group tried numerous times to exit the school but retreated back inside when they found that the police had surrounded the building. Canine officers arrived on the scene and entered Cane Ridge along with patrol officers. Officers located the suspects inside the school. Three of the suspects were identified as followed; Deonte Franklin, Temara Spain, and Daunte Young the other 3 suspects were juveniles that had been driven to the location by Deonte. Officers searched Deonte and found two bags of marijuana totaling a combined weight of 1/8 of an ounce, 3.5 grams. The 3 adults were taken into custody and transported to booking.

Deonte Franklin was arrested for burglary, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor and his bond was set at $6500.00. Daunte Young and Temara Spain were arrested for burglary along with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and their bonds were set at $6000.00 each.
