Unprovoked drunk knocks man unconscious; claims he needed to “defend” himself

28-year-old Logan Pierce was charged with public intoxication and aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury after he knocked a man unconscious because he thought the victim “moved at him aggressively.”

On February 8th, officers were flagged near Tequila Cowboy on Broadway in downtown Nashville regarding an unconscious person. Witnesses told officers that Logan Pierce punched the victim once and he was unprovoked. This resulted in Jack Marecki losing consciousness for approximately 25 minutes before the ambulance transported him while still unconscious. Witnesses also stated that both Logan and Jack appeared to be intoxicated and were walking down the sidewalk.

Logan said that Jack and his friends “moved at him aggressively.” Witness statements did not corroborate his story. Police report that Logan was unsteady on his feet, had bloodshot and watery eyes, and smelled of alcohol. Due to Logan’s level of intoxication evidenced by him believing that someone was following him, he was deemed a danger to himself and the general public.

Logan Pierce was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication and Aggravated Assault – Serious Bodily Injury His bond was set at $10,250.
