29-year-old Samantha Horneff was charged with DUI and implied consent following a traffic stop that occurred after she was seen swerving and failed to stop at a red light.

On February 14th, officers witnessed a white SUV fail to stop at the flashing red light at the intersection of North 11th Street and Gallatin Pike. Police also observed the SUV swerve in their lane and make contact with the broken centerline. Officers activated their lights and the driver was very slow to respond. Contact was made with the driver and was identified as Samantha Horneff. The officer noted that Samantha smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, and admitted to having had 2 glasses of wine as well as her prescribed anti-depressants.

The officer then asked Samantha to perform a standard field sobriety test to which she consented and performed partially. She was then taken into custody based on her driving infraction, indicators of impairment during contact as well as the partial field sobriety test, and her admission to consuming 2 glasses of wine. She was read Tennessee’s Implied Consent Law and refused to take a breath test.

Samantha Horneff was arrested and charged with DUI and Implied Consent. Her bond was set at $1,000. She was later freed on pre-trial release.
