East Nashville man charged with DUI mere footsteps from his front door

31-year-old Matthew Depew was charged with driving under the influence of an intoxicant when police found his vehicle had left the roadway. Depew’s blood alcohol content was .185.

On March 20th, Officer Frederick Ware investigated a vehicle that had left the roadway near Gallatin Pike. According to the affidavit, the driver Matthew Depew stated he had imbibed adult beverages with a crony and was on his way home. Officer Ware observed Ware to have watery eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet.

The officer stated Depew agreed to sobriety tests and was moved to a location that was better lit and more suitable for the task, as well as just footsteps from his residence. Depew also consented to a breathalyzer which indicated his blood alcohol content to be .185.

Matthew Depew was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was later freed on pre-trial release.
