Nashville man charged with disorderly, resisting after brouhaha at his apartment complex

22-year-old Tavonte Thompson was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after officers were alerted that he was threatening people with a weapon. Police didn’t find a weapon but a brouhaha ensued disturbing citizens.

On March 25th, officers were at Overlook Ridge Apartments located at 2400 Buena Vista Pike when they received a call about a black male in all black clothing threatening people with a gun. According to affidavits, they traced the hazy call and the location was pinpointed to Apartment #75. When officers arrived at that apartment, they identified an individual matching the description given by dispatch.

Tavonte Thompson was alone and when he was told to take his hands out of his pockets, he refused and attempted to walk away. To confirm he did not have a firearm, officers attempted to gain physical control of him. According to the affidavit, Thompson “violently resisted”, would not cooperate, and officers reported that he was screaming, shouting and cursing at them. This caused a disturbance and many residents came outside to witness the incident.

Tavonte Thompson was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was later freed on pre-trial release.
