20-year-old Deangent Parker was charged with DUI, implied consent, and consumption of alcohol under 21 after she ran up a curb and crashed her vehicle into a light pole.

On March 12th, officers made contact with Deangent Parker at the intersection of 21st Avenue North and Charlotte Avenue because she was involved in a vehicle accident. Deangent was traveling the wrong direction down a one-way street when she made a right turn and struck the curb and a light pole. Police stated Deangent was unsteady on her feet, had slurred speech, and smelled of alcohol. Deangent stated that she had two shots of vodka while at the club prior to driving.

Officers asked Deangent to perform a standard field sobriety test to which she consented. Deangent was unable to perform the horizontal gaze task because she “had been pepper-sprayed early in the evening” but performed poorly in other aspects of the test. She was then placed into custody and read Tennessee’s Implied Consent Law but refused to provide a sample. Deangent was then transported to booking.

Deangent Parker was arrested and charged with DUI, implied consent, along with consumption of alcohol under 21. Her bond was set at $2,500.
