33-year-old Erica Forsythe was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after witnesses said she threatened and pointed a gun at a man and her child over an argument as to whether she was intoxicated and capable of safely driving with her 1-year-old daughter.

On March 18th, authorities were called to a domestic disturbance at 1820 Ashton Avenue. According to affidavits, Corey Halfacre stated Erica had arrived at the house visibly impaired. This prompted an argument as to whether she should be permitted to take their 1-year-old daughter with her in a vehicle.

Corey told officers Erica then brandished a “silver short-barrel revolver” and waved it towards him and her daughter while saying “I’ll whoop or shoot anyone that tries to take my kid”. Corey said that he attempted to remove from her possession, but was unable to do so. Erica then left the home without her daughter and with the revolver still in her possession.

Corey’s statements were corroborated by a juvenile witness who also stated he heard Erica say “anyone that tries to keep my fucking kid I’ll shoot or fight.” Both individuals said they were in fear for their safety, as well as the others present. Erica denied having a firearm and one was not recovered at the scene.

Erica Forsythe was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her bond was set at $15,000.
