35-year-old Jeremy Lawrence was charged with theft of a vehicle after being involved in a hit and run in a stolen vehicle and found less than half a mile away. Once caught, he offered to “take responsibility for anything that happened”.

On March 26th, officers responded to 780 Old Hickory Boulevard in reference to a hit and run. Upon arrival, police spoke with the complainant who stated the vehicle that took off was a red SUV driven by a white male wearing a Tennessee Titans jersey. The complainant went on to say the SUV fled West on Old Hickory Boulevard. Police traveled in that direction and found a red Subaru Forester parked at 5721 Franklin Pike, less than half a mile away. Police observed a white male wearing a Tennessee Titans jersey while standing next to the open driver door of the vehicle.

The driver seat was unoccupied and the suspect, identified as Jeremy Lawrence, had the keys to the vehicle in his pocket. Officers checked the status of the vehicle through ARMS and found that it was registered as stolen, which was then also confirmed by dispatch. Jeremy was Mirandized and stated that he was previously at the location of the accident “where someone ran over an item that belonged to him in the parking lot.” Jeremy then said that he “would take responsibility for anything wrong that happened tonight.”

Jeremy Lawrence was arrested and charged with theft of a vehicle. He was later freed on pre-trial release.
