Man hits uncle with broom when he’s told money is for food not crack, per report

46-year-old Jeffrey Keyser was charged with unlawful drug paraphernalia and domestic assault after his uncle told police that his nephew hit him with a broom handle and punched him in the face because he wouldn’t give him any money for crack.

On March 30th, a concerned third party who wasn’t present called in a report of domestic violence at 270 Tampa Drive. According to the affidavit, Luther Cloud and his nephew Jeffrey Keyser live together. Cloud told authorities that Keyser asked him for money to buy crack and that he told Keyser no because he needed money for food. Keyser then proceeded to hit his uncle on the head with a plastic broom handle as well as strike Cloud multiple times in the face with his fists.

Cloud said he attempted to retaliate but Keyser had fled the scene on foot. Officers observed dried blood on his forehead, face and lip from the beating that had occurred at least an hour prior. Jeffrey Keyser has previous convictions for domestic assault in 2011, 2017 and 2018. When Keyser was being booked, deputies found a crack pipe concealed on his person.

Jeffrey Keyser was arrested and charged with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and domestic assault. His bond was set at $6,000.
