33-year-old Christopher Rector was charged with driving under the influence after being involved in a car accident and admitting to officers that he drank an 18-pack of beer throughout the night and that morning.

On March 25th, officers responded to a vehicle accident with no injuries at the intersection of Decatur Street and Hermitage Avenue. When officers arrived, they made contact with the driver, Christopher Rector, and noted they immediately noticed that he had slurred speech, he was unsteady on his feet, his eyes were watery and glossed over, and there was an obvious odor of alcohol on his breath.

Officers were then informed that Christopher had rear-ended another vehicle while traveling on Interstate 40 West. Christopher admitted to officers that he was speeding and then “suddenly crashed into the back of a vehicle”, per the affidavit. Christopher then admitted to drinking an 18-pack of beer the night before and had finished by 6:00 that morning.

Officers then conducted the standard field sobriety tests and “found clear indicators” that he was under the influence, according to the report. Christopher was Mirandized, then asked again when the last time was that he drank alcohol. Christopher again stated he drank an 18-pack of beer the night before and his last one was at 6:00 that morning. Christopher consented to a legal blood draw and was transported to General Hospital before being booked.

Christopher Rector was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He was later freed on pre-trial release.
