29-year-old Antonio Boykin was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from two separate incidents at two different locations, both involving a sharp object.

On March 17th, officers were called to the In Town Suites located at 665 Myatt Drive in Madison. According to an affidavit, an employee, who was present at the front desk during the incident, told the officers that Antonio Boykin resides at the hotel in room 212. The front desk employee also stated Boykin came to the lobby complaining about his girlfriend, who was not present, needing to be removed. Another employee identified as Ms. Muse helped him and once that was resolved he aired a grievance about maintenance. During this interaction, employees noted Boykin was on his phone making statements such as “he was going to snap and hurt someone in the room.”

He then randomly closed the doors to the office, which the employees reopened and he closed them a second time stating “someone was behind him”. The front desk employee attested that during this entire episode Boykin had his hand in his pocket “as though he was holding something”. When another individual, Ryan Venable, entered the room Boykin turned his focus to him, stated into his phone “I’m gonna do it” and lunged at Mr. Venable with a sharp, metallic object from his pocket. Mr. Venable noted that the object looked to him to be a “home-made shiv.” He also claimed that Boykin leaped into close proximity but did not strike him with the object. Upon viewing the security footage, authorities estimated Boykin to be less than a foot away from Mr. Venable but could not see the sharp object in the camera angle. Antonio Boykin exited the lobby on foot.

According to another affidavit, an individual identified as Chasity Williams was in the street and told the officers Antonio Boykin had chased her with a knife in their apartment before locking her and a juvenile niece out of the residence. Chasity’s niece confirmed that she had witnessed Boykin threaten Chasity with the knife.

On March 30th, Antonio Boykin was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $15,000.
