Putnam’s vehicle collided with a parked car, driven through a mailbox, and was stopped when he smashed into the tree in the West Eastland front yard. Debris also damaged a vehicle parked in an adjacent driveway. The report noted that Putnam was “smoking” an unlit cigarette not realizing it wasn’t burning, needed assistance to walk to the patrol vehicle and asked an officer if he was being pulled over once he was being removed from the police cruiser. Andrew Putnam refused to participate in field sobriety exams and although he consented to a breath test, he refused to give a sample when it was time to do so.

Andrew Putnam was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of an intoxicant and implied consent. He was later freed on a pre-trial release.
