18-year-old Moria Bender was charged with vandalism and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after her father reported to police that she whacked him with a clothes iron and smashed potted plants because he couldn’t give her a ride.

On April 10th, officers responded to 1106 Elliston Street for a domestic incident. According to affidavits, Moria Bender asked her father Eric Izzo for money to purchase baby wipes. Her father agreed but a verbal confrontation occurred when Mr. Izzo told Bender that he was not able to give her a ride. Bender proceeded to exit the residence and throw and break all the potted plants on the porch.

After this destruction, she re-entered the home to strike her father in the face. When Mr. Izzo attempted to defend himself, Moria Bender elevated the assault by hitting him on the back of his head with a clothes iron. In her flight, Bender threatened she would “be back with friends to beat him up.” A witness to the events was present and corroborated the account.

Moria Bender was arrested and charged with vandalism and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her bond was set at $4,000.
