Woman charged after jumping into “on-again/off-again” girlfriend’s bed uninvited, per report

25-year-old Kayla Ballew was charged with domestic assault when “off-again/on-again” girlfriend told police that Ballew climbed into bed with her uninvited, causing an argument that escalated into a physical assault.

On March 30th, Officer Zachary Plese responded to a domestic violence incident call at the Belmont Terrace Apartment complex located at 1626 16th Avenue South. According to the affidavit, upon arrival, they met Shannon Oconnor, observed that she had visible lacerations and noted shards of glass on the floor. Officers located Kayla Ballew hiding in the bedroom while Ms. Oconnor explained the couple is in an “on-again/off-again” relationship.

She also stated that Ballew lives at the residence “on and off” sleeping on the couch from time to time. After being on the sofa all night, Ballew climbed into Oconnor’s bed inciting an argument that resulted in Ballew being kicked out of the bed and the house. At some point, Ballew pushed Oconnor into a table in the living room, causing a glass vessel to fall and break. Oconnor also fell which caused the injury to her elbow. The report also noted that Kayla Ballew has two previous arrests for domestic violence.

Kayla Ballew was arrested and charged with domestic assault. Her bond was set at $2,000.
