33-year-old Brett Brown was charged with two counts of domestic assault and vandalism when he stopped at his ex-girlfriend’s home to get his mail and vandalized her son’s vehicle and allegedly threatened them.
On May 13th, according to affidavits, Brett Brown stopped by his ex-girlfriend’s residence to pick up his mail. Brown and Kathy Stroud had broken up and he moved out of the home on May 2nd. Stroud gave him permission to get his mail on May 7th. Brown showed up almost a week later and Stroud’s sons Logan and Cole Bowers answered the door. The pointed him to the mail, stowed in a plastic zipper bag on the porch. Moments later, they heard loud banging and went back outside to find Brown vandalizing Cole’s vehicle.
When Brown realized they were watching, he quickly retreated to his vehicle and, while reaching toward the area of the vehicle he is known to secure his firearm, stated “come over here now.” Logan and Cole claimed they knew Brown was arming himself and they were afraid of being harmed.
On May 28th, Brett Brown was charged with two counts of domestic assault and vandalism. His bond was set at $6,000 and he was later freed on pre-trial release.
