Impaired man detained for safety after shrieking at witnesses, throwing himself into lane of traffic

31-year-old Wesley Jones was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct when multiple bystanders reported he was shrieking in the middle of the road as well as their faces. When officers located him he hurled himself into the lane of traffic.

On May 10th, Nashville Metro officers were dispatched to the Exxon at 1309 Murfreesboro Pike in regard to a disorderly individual. According to affidavits, numerous witnesses described the individual was shrieking and walking in the middle of the roadway as well as hollering in their faces. When officers located Wesley Jones he hurled himself in the lane of traffic.

While they safely transferred him to a sidewalk, he was observed to be obviously impaired and smelled strongly of alcohol. Officers noted he was also utilizing profanity and violating their personal space. It was ultimately determined Jones was a danger to himself and others.

Wesley Jones was arrested and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. His charges were dismissed at the request of the state.
