Man claims girlfriend is bipolar; she stabs him in a shed while drinking

50-year-old Angela Cartwright was charged with aggravated assault after she stabbed her boyfriend for no apparent reason while they were drinking in a shed. Her boyfriend told police that she is bipolar.

On July 16th, 2019, the victim, Andrew McGlothen was speaking to police after a report of an aggravated assault. He told police that he and the defendant, Angela Cartwright, are in a relationship and were hanging out at his house located at 2600 Jenkins Street. They were in a shed behind a house at 2602 Jenkins Street that was unoccupied due to renovations drinking when Angela began to attack him, he reported.

He began explaining that he thinks that drinking catalyzed the situation because she is bipolar, they were not arguing of any kind beforehand. During the attack, she brandished a pocket knife and stabbed Andrew several times before he was able to flee, lock himself in his house, and call 911, per report. Police observed three small cuts on Andrew’s upper right arm and a large cut on his face.

On May 14th, Angela Cartwright was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Her bond was set at $10,000.
