27-year-old Alec Whiteside was charged with driving under the influence, no valid license, and implied consent when police found him sleeping behind the wheel in a running car while parked in the middle of the street.

On May 17th, officers arrived at Blue Hole Road and Pettus Road to find a man asleep at the wheel parked in the middle of the street. The vehicle was still running when police observed the defendant, Alec Whiteside, asleep and drooling in the front seat slumped over the steering wheel. They observed the smell of alcohol coming from his person and found an alcoholic beverage in the cupholder.

When they woke Whiteside up and asked if he was okay, he stated that he was and was heading home. He consented to do a field sobriety test that the police stated he did very poorly at, per report. Whiteside then refused to do a breathalyzer test and police took him into custody. They found that his driver’s license expired in 2018 when it was checked in the system.

Alec Whiteside was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, no valid license, and implied consent. He was later freed on a pre-trial release.
