20-year-old Samuel Serrano was charged with domestic assault when police found him and another male with red marks and bruises on their chests and arms inside a hotel room. Serrano told police that it was “just horseplay.”

On May 6th, police responded to a call of which the origins were unknown, at a hotel. The officer arrived at the room that the unknown caller gave 911 and heard shouting inside. Two males were found in the room with red marks and bruises on their chests and arms. When the officer asked the defendant, Samuel Serrano, what was going he said, “nothing, it was just horseplay.” The victim, Eric Coffman, explained that “it was definitely not horseplay”.

Serrano took an aggressive stance towards Coffman, which the officer deemed to be disorderly behavior, so he was detained. As the police officers were detaining him, he kicked Coffman in the leg with intent to do bodily harm.

While the police officers were conducting a search Serrano was escorted to the patrol vehicle where he tried to run away from the officers. He asked officers to grab his jacket inside which he confirmed was his before they gave it to him and they found a small glass tube inside with a charred end consistent with a crack pipe.

Samuel Serrano was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and domestic assault, due to them living together for more than a year, according to police. His bond was set at $5,000.
