33-year-old Jose Bautista was charged with driving without a license, driving under the influence, and implied consent after allegedly being unable to stay in his lane of travel, halting his vehicle on Una Antioch Pike, then driving into the oncoming lane of traffic.

On June 5th, officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle due to its inability to maintain the lane of travel on Una Antioch Pike near Piccadilly Row. Prior to law enforcement conducting the traffic stop, law enforcement noticed the vehicle stopped on Una Antioch Pike without reason. According to the affidavit, the vehicle proceeded to drive into the opposite lane of traffic. The driver continued to swerve along the double yellow center line after correcting the initial error of driving in the wrong lane of traffic.

Following a slow stop by the driver after observing the officer’s emergency equipment, law enforcement made contact with driver Jose Bautista, who was noted by officers to have a slurred manner of speaking, watery eyes, and an alcoholic scent stemming from his breath. Bautista later confessed to drinking a beer earlier in the evening.

Multiple field sobriety tests were administered, to which the driver revealed signs of inebriation throughout. Bautista was read the implied consent law and denied the chance to provide a breath sample. Further investigation reported Bautista to have no previous DUI history as well as no documentation of a driver’s license.

Jose Bautista was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, implied consent, and driving without a license. He was later freed on pre-trial release.
