27-year-old Daresha Rice was charged with domestic assault after attacking her girlfriend’s brother and locking him out of his own residence for smoking a cigarette inside the home, per report.

On June 2nd, officers were dispatched to 1826 Hickory Club Drive by Darius Benford, who informed law enforcement that he had been locked out of his home by his sister, Shayla Benford, and her girlfriend, Daresha Rice. According to the affidavit, as Benson was exiting the residence, he was smoking a cigarette while inside the home. Rice responded to this by taking the cigarette out of his mouth, shoved him against a wall and scratched his left wrist. The scratch caused the skin to break and induced minor amounts of bleeding.

Officers proceeded to question Rice, who denied the claim of assaulting Benford but did ask him to cease his smoking inside the house. She also denied causing the wrist injury to Benford. Despite Benford’s refusal to press charges on Rice, officers prosecuted the resident for domestic assault.

Daresha Rice was arrested and charged with domestic assault. Her bond was set at $1,000.
