East Nashville man pilots drone over protestors, caught with over 31 grams of marijuana

20-year old James Brown was charged with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance after piloting a drone on private property during a downtown protest in Nashville. A consensual search of Brown later revealed over 31 grams of marijuana on his person.

On June 4th, James Brown was in attendance at a downtown protest in Nashville. During the protest, officers noticed Brown operating a drone above the crowd. The drone was allegedly flying on private property without permission.

The unmanned aircraft proceeded to navigate over the protestors at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Broadway, leaving individuals in danger, per report. After approaching Brown, law enforcement was given consent to search his person. Further investigation lead officers to discover 31.2 grams of marijuana as well as a marijuana grinder in his backpack.

James Brown was arrested and charged with unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was later freed on pre-trial release.
