21-year-old Malik White was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated robbery, custodial interference, and theft after hijacking a Jeep Compass in order to see his 10-month-old child. Prior to commandeering the vehicle, he reportedly threatened and stabbed a woman multiple times with a fork.

On June 26th, officers were dispatched in regards to a reported child abduction. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with two victims, who were identified as Breanna Balmer and Ruby Bunch. According to the affidavit, the duo discovered Malik White asleep on Balmer’s porch earlier in the afternoon. Balmer and White had been involved in a romantic relationship and have a 10-month-old child. An argument ensued between the two parties due to White appearing to be high while requesting to see the child. White is the father of the child, but does not have legal custodial rights and was never married to Balmer.

White additionally demanded to be transported to a nearby MAPCO gas station, to which Bunch and Balmer complied in order to remove White from the premises. Balmer, Bunch, White and the child entered a Jeep Compass shortly thereafter, with White and the child riding in the back seat. As the Compass was en route to the gas station, White requested to be transported to 3015 Baby Ruth Ln in order to check the mail.

Upon arrival to Baby Ruth Ln, White allegedly took hold of Bunch’s hair, pulled it back, and stuck a fork into her neck. White demanded Bunch’s money as well as her wallet. Bunch was unable to comply due to the money falling in an unattainable location of the vehicle. White responded to this by stabbing Bunch in both arms with the fork. Law enforcement observed injuries suffered to Bunch’s arms and neck from the assault.

Balmer attempted to separate the two parties by halting the SUV. As Balmer exited the vehicle, White jumped into the driver’s seat and began to accelerate the Compass. Balmer managed to hold onto the vehicle in the process in fear for her child’s safety. The mother was reportedly dragged alongside the SUV at a high rate of speed.

Balmer eventually fell out of the vehicle, Bunch followed suit by jumping out of the Compass while in motion. Balmer sustained injuries in the form of a potentially broken finger, damage to both arms, and a possible concussion. White was discovered by law enforcement at the Apollo Apartments located on 850 Richards Rd. White returned the child unharmed and the vehicle was recovered shortly thereafter.

Malik White was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated robbery, custodial interference, and theft. His bond was set at $135,000.
