27-year-old Mckenzie Scott was charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, reckless endangerment, and felony possession of a firearm with intent after he broke into a home around 5:00 a.m. claiming there were “people in the trees” and then went outside and started shooting at them.

On June 1st, police received a shots fired call at 1501 Lischey Avenue, when they arrived they made contact with the victims, Masedono Martinez and Bernarda Morales, who said that the defendant, Mckenzie Scott, kicked in their door while they were asleep. Martinez said that he awoke to the noise and walked into the kitchen where he saw Scott who was irrational and pointing a gun into the trees when Martinez brought him outside to calm him down. Scott wrapped his arm around Martinez’s neck, he said, and began firing shots into the trees asking if he saw the people he saw in the trees.

Afterward, Scott turned the weapon to Martinez’s head with his arm still around his neck, but Martinez convinced Scott to let him go by agreeing to what Scott was seeing. Scott continued to fire shots into the trees that was also witnessed by Lawrence Holfkamp. Police placed Scott into custody and he told the police that the people in the trees were trying to abduct him which is why he was firing at them. They located a black handgun buried under rocks at a neighbor’s residence. While in the police vehicle he still insisted that the people were there.

Mckenzie Scott was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, reckless endangerment, and felony possession of a firearm with intent. His bond was set at $25,000.
