28-year-old Roderick Morgan-Jones was charged with domestic assault, assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest after he punched his girlfriend several times in the head and kicked her when she questioned why he was disrespecting her by talking to another female. He then faked sick for police to open the door to run after slipping out of his handcuffs.

On June 8th, Police came to Cecilia Avenue and 15th Avenue North in response to a domestic assault when he found the defendant, Roderick Morgan-Jones, hitting his girlfriend in the head while she was on the ground. The victim, his girlfriend, Xaviera Burn, had her hands up attempting to block the punches on the ground when police physically placed Roderick into custody.

They asked Xaviera what had happened and she stated that he was speaking to another female when she asked him, “Why are you disrespecting me like that?” She said that is when he started to hit her in her head as well as kicking her while she was on the ground.

After being placed into custody Roderick told police that he was sick and they went to open the door while they noticed that he was trying to slip out of his cuffs. He spat and kicked at the officers as well as kicked the door of the patrol car. He refused to listen to instructions and did not respond to soft empty hand control.

Roderick Morgan-Jones was arrested and charged with domestic assault, assault on an officer, and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $9,000.
