Man caught with loaded handgun while driving intoxicated on Nolensville Pike

24-year-old Devin Wilson was charged with DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence after an officer noticed him drive on the sidewalk and swerve into the bicycle lane on Nolensville Pike.

On June 15th, Officer Nave observed a vehicle driving over the sidewalk located on Nolensville Pike. Nave began to follow the vehicle and noticed the vehicle continually swerve into the bicycle lane of the road. The vehicle’s swerving initiated a traffic stop from Nave. Upon arrival to the vehicle in question, Nave identified the driver as Devin Wilson. According to the affidavit, Wilson appeared to have bloodshot eyes and a slurred manner of speech. Wilson proceeded to confess to having two beers before getting behind the wheel, as well as being in possession of a loaded handgun. Standardized field sobriety tests were administered, to which Wilson displayed signs of inebriation throughout.

Wilson was read the Tennessee implied consent form and was placed into custody for driving under the influence. Following Wilson’s consent to a breathalyzer test, Nave registered the driver’s blood alcohol content to be .09. The legal limit in Tennessee is .08. Wilson informed law enforcement where the handgun was located, resulting in Nave discovering a loaded Taurus 9mm pistol in the dashboard.

Devin Wilson was arrested and charged with DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence. He was later freed on pre-trial release.
