22-year-old Joshua South was charged with joyriding, harassment, and theft of services after he was caught using his victim’s vehicle without consent with a spare set of keys. His girlfriend gave police a description of car keys that matched the vehicle in question.

On May 28th, police interviewed the victim, Rosemary Davenport, who told police that her vehicle was routinely not in the same condition when she would leave it. For example, her gas tank fluctuated and would be empty after parking it with gas in it. Police also conducted an interview with the suspect of the crime’s, Joshua South, girlfriend who said that she heard Josh and his friend “Trey” talk about keys to a Lincoln. She went on to tell police that she heard them discuss using the vehicle at night and bring it back to park it with the keys still left inside the vehicle to cause no suspicion.

The keys that she described in detail matched keys that of the keys a victim from a separate call described. The girlfriend told police that Josh and Trey found the keys in the victim’s door. Also Josh’s ex girlfriend stated that they lived together at 1004 Lincoya Bay Drive but broke up one month prior in a text on May 14th that she told him not to contact her anymore. Josh was abusive, she stated, and that she feared for her life because he kept texting her after she requested that he stop. She wanted to prosecute and obtain an order of protection.

Joshua South was arrested and charged with joyriding, harassment, and theft of services. His bond was set at $4,500.
