Man with unconscious passenger in truck bed busted for meth, DUI

34-year-old Daniel Key was charged with possession of meth, DUI 1st, and implied consent after police answered a medical call for a passenger not breathing in the back of a pickup truck and ended up finding multiple containers of meth in plain sight on May 27, 2020.

According to the affidavit, officers responded to a call from the Goodlettsville Fire Department at 105 Long Hollow Pk. Daniel Key had driven his passenger to the fire station after the passenger stopped breathing. Medics moved the man to the bed of the truck and tended to the man, while officers spoke with Key.

The officers noticed Key was sweating like crazy, he was swaying back and forth and was slurring his speech. He failed field sobriety tests. Officers found a bag of meth in plain sight near the seat belt on the driver’s side of the truck. They found another bag of meth on Key, along with a piece of folded paper with meth and a folded lottery ticket with an unknown powder in it. In total, Key had over 3g of field-tested meth in his possession. He admitted using the drug, but he refused a blood test.

Daniel Key was arrested and charged with DUI 1st, possession of meth under 5g with intent to sell, and implied consent. His bond was set at $11,000.
