20-year-old Adam Hollis was charged with negligent operation of a boat, boating under the influence, possession of alcohol under 21, NASBLA boating violation, and implied consent after TWRA observed a boat with a passenger on the bow and found Busch cans rolling around on his boat.
On May 24th, around 6 pm on Percy Priest Lake police noticed a bass boat traveling with a passenger riding on the bow of the boat in an elevated seat, which is reckless operation, via report. When the police initiated their blue lights and siren the boat continued moving with the driver not paying attention to the police vessel. The defendant, Adam Hollis, refused to look at the officer when police caught up to the boat, but the officer noticed that Hollis looked flush with bloodshot, watery eyes.
There were Busch cans rolling around in the bottom of the boat, police stated, and Hollis said that he had drank a couple when asked. Police asked how old he was and he said 20, as well as none of the other passengers, were 21 or over either. He appeared to on his feet as he boarded the officer’s vessel to perform a field sobriety test, which the report states he did poorly on. After refusing to give a blood sample he was placed into custody for a BUI.
Adam Hollis was arrested and charged with negligent operation of a boat, boating under the influence, possession of alcohol under 21, NASBLA boating violation, and implied consent. He was later freed on pre-trial release.
