23-year-old Elizabeth Petersen was charged with negligently discharging a handgun through the roof of a shared hotel room while next to a baby after having a discussion about a threesome while intoxicated.
On June 2nd, at Aloft Hotel (1719 West End Avenue) security waved down police in response to shots being fired inside a room reported by the hotel staff. Police spoke to the suspect, Elizabeth Petersen, who told them that she had a male, Logan Boyett, and a female friend with a baby visiting from Missouri and she was in their hotel room visiting.
She said that they were all drinking and discussing having a possible threesome when the male said he wanted to kill himself with a handgun that was in the room. Police described Petersen as intoxicated because she had red and watery eyes as well as a strong odor of alcohol on her breath.
Petersen grabbed the handgun which belongs to Logan and shot the ceiling into an unoccupied room above theirs. When she shot the weapon she was only a few feet from Logan and the sleeping child. Officers said that Petersen was cooperative throughout the entire process.
Elizabeth Petersen was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and possession of a handgun while under the influence. She was later freed on pre-trial release.
