Man steals from Madison Home Depot five separate times

49-year-old Shawn Byrd was charged with four counts of burglary and five counts of theft of property after stealing from a Madison Home Depot on five separate occasions. The estimated total of the looted items was valued at nearly $1,200.

On June 3rd, Shawn Byrd was observed on surveillance footage at a Home Depot located on 1584 Gallatin Pike N. Byrd was noted to have left the premises without paying for a DeWalt drill. The drill’s value was estimated to be $179. Six days later, cameras identified Byrd entering the same business and fleeing the building with a Makita combo toolset. The toolset was worth approximately $269. Byrd returned once again to the home improvement store on the 11th, thieving a Makita two-piece drill set. The set’s value was nearly $300, per report. Justin Watson, a loss prevention officer with the company, was aware of Byrd’s identity and frequent visitation at the time of the incident.

Byrd was captured yet again stealing from Home Depot on June 15, taking a Makita brush-less drill set without payment. The drill set was approximately worth $200. The man’s most recent occurrence was on June 18, where Byrd left the store failing to pay for a DeWalt trimmer. The string trimmer’s value was estimated to be $229. Byrd was placed into custody for five counts of theft of property and four counts of burglary on June 30. The grand total of the items stolen from Byrd was approximately $1,179. Further investigation revealed that the man had been barred from the location in April of 2020 for a period of three years.

On June 30th, Shawn Byrd was arrested and charged with four counts of burglary as well as five counts of theft of property. His bond was set at $45,000.
