27-year-old Christopher Goodly was charged with resisting arrest, evading on a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and having no license after two bicycle officers tracked and attempted to stop him at least three times within a day.

On June 24th, Metro Nashville police officers on bicycles were patrolling the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge when they noticed a vehicle rally in the Nissan Stadium R Lot. According to affidavits, the bicycle cops immediately zeroed in on a green Kawasaki they recognized from earlier in the evening, they noted the green motorcycle had been “exceeding noise levels” and driving recklessly. They again observed Christopher Goodly revving his engine to “make noise and draw attention to himself.” The bicycle cops testified that Goodly pulled next to them at Broadway and 1st Avenue South, made eye contact, and then sped off, illegally making a right turn on red.

Later, officers again approached Goodly on the Kawasaki saying “stop…I need to talk to you” and Goodly put his headgear back on and proceeded to get on his bike. Officers attempted to physically grab Goodly as he began to move away. The report states that they released their grip on him and he drove his motorcycle into a car parked 30 feet ahead. While at the hospital police noted overhearing him tell his girlfriend and mother via telephone that he “saw us coming and knew it was the same police as before” and “knew he needed to leave”.
