18-year-old Donta Reed was charged with theft of property, no driver’s license, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after a traffic stop due to no headlights led police to discover the vehicle reported stolen from within Metro Nashville.

On June 6th, close to 12:30 am police observed a grey Nissan sedan heading eastbound on Rivergate Parkway and conducted a traffic stop for not having any headlights or taillights on. The vehicle turned into America’s Best Value Inn located at 622 Rivergate Parkway.

As the sedan stopped, the officer was notified by dispatch that the vehicle had been stolen three days ago from MNPD jurisdiction. Another officer was requested so they could conduct a felony stop that led to the driver and passenger being challenged out and detained immediately.

When the officer notified the defendant, Donta Reed, who was driving that the car was reported stolen, he told the officer that he bought it from Facebook a week ago. The passenger, a minor, said that he had no knowledge of the vehicle being stolen at all either. As police were running Reed through their system they could not find a valid license for him.

Donta Reed was arrested and charged with theft of property, no valid driver’s license, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His bond was set at $7,000.
