Teen charged with theft again after not scanning socks and underwear

19-year-old Toniyja Winters was charged with theft of merchandise and criminal trespass when she and her friend were caught past the point of sale with $182.98 worth of unscanned socks, underwear, t-shirts and a pair of sandals.

On June 16th, according to an affidavit, Toniyja Winters and Jaylah Sandifer were at a self-checkout kiosk Walmart and scanned 2 items that totaled $11.50. Walmart Loss Prevention stopped them in the breezeway after they had passed all points of sale.

In their bag was shirts, socks, underwear and sandals that had not been scanned. The total of the unpaid items was $182.98. Winters had already been restricted from Walmart properties in October of 2019.

On July 21st, Toniyja Winters was arrested and charged with theft of merchandise and criminal trespass. Her bond was set at $2,000.
