Trouble in paradise: Couple exchanges handgun rounds after fight

32-year-old Tanisha Mcghee was charged with aggravated assault and vandalism after she and her boyfriend began shooting at each other after a fight and a long drive from Chattanooga, per report.

On July 4th, a little after 1 AM the defendant, Tanisha Mcghee, was driving her boyfriend Andrel Gaulden back home from Chattanooga. Gualden reported they were involved in a physical dispute while they were in Chattanooga. When she dropped him off at his residence at 4861 Barclay Square Drive she ran up behind him and hit him in the face with an object before he made it to his door.

He attempted to swing back in defense and they struggled in the front yard but he eventually ran to back to the vehicle she was driving. As he was trying to get into the vehicle he heard gunshots coming from Mcghee who was holding a handgun. Running for cover to the south side of the house, he brandished his handgun and began firing back after he described a bullet coming very close and striking something next to him.

Police arrived after Mcghee left in the vehicle down Apollo Drive and found 9mm and 40 caliber casings all-around the yard and street. Two vehicles were hit by the gunfire including Gaulden’s and a family member’s car. Police observed injuries to the side of his face as well as grass stains on his clothes that were consistent with his statement.

On July 5th, Tanisha Mcghee was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism. Her bond was set at $20,000.
