Women injure man with tire iron, shoots another during Nashville robberies

39-year-old Paula Hurt was charged with two counts of especially aggravated robbery and 36-year-old Jaqueline Mangrum was charged with especially aggravated robbery after striking one man with a tire iron and shooting another in two separate incidents while demanding money from them.

On May 10th, Priest Weathers received a ride from Paula Hurt. The two had known one another for approximately a week and had agreed to provide Weathers transport to his residence in exchange for compensation. Weathers exited the vehicle at the Advance Financial located on 3041 Dickerson Pike, where the man willingly withdrew money from his account. Hurt, Weathers, and an unidentified accomplice met again at the Mapco Gas Station located on 3053 Dickerson Pike. All three parties were observed leaving the Mapco in the vehicle and initiating travel onto Broadmoor Drive.

Weathers later advised law enforcement that he had been robbed at the intersection of Maplewood Trace and Hillside Road. According to the affidavit, Hurt began to throw Weathers’ belongings out of the vehicle and began to demand compensation. Hurt proceeded to obtain a tire iron and, when Weathers exited the vehicle, struck the man on the head while he was on the ground.

The accomplice additionally kicked Weathers during the incident, per report. Hurt took $40 from the man following the assault and fled the scene with the accomplice. Weathers required medical attention and was transported to Skyline Medical Center for further evaluation. The man required stitches due to the attack and was informed that his right leg had been broken. The accomplice during the robbery was identified as Jaqueline Mangrum, who was arrested and charged with especially aggravated robbery on June 13th. The charges were later dismissed, according to the Howard Gentry Criminal Court Clerk database.

An additional robbery was reported eight days later when Adam Woods was reportedly shot during an incident. On May 18th, multiple individuals had taken money from Woods’ person. The robbery resulted in the man being shot by the robbers. Further investigation revealed Hurt to be a suspect in the case. A photo line-up was initiated with Woods on June 2nd, who positively identified Hurt as an involved party.

On July 9th, Paula Hurt was arrested and charged with two counts of especially aggravated robbery. Her bond was set at $150,000.
