Felon steals from Walmart with 9.5 grams of various drugs and several weapons in his pockets

33-year-old Christopher Cunningham was charged with possession of a controlled substance, felon in possession of a handgun, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia after getting caught trying to steal a $15 item from Walmart.

On August 19th, officers responded to Walmart at 4040 Nolensville Pike for a shoplifting call where they found Christopher Cunningham waiting in the loss prevention office. He was being detained by an off-duty officer who worked the location. Cunningham had stolen one item that was worth approximately $15. However, while being detained Mr. Kruggel noticed several knives sticking out of Cunningham’s pocket and the outline of a handgun near his waistline.

Video surveillance showed Cunningham being put into handcuffs and Mr. Kruggel placing his items on a chair next to him. An ARMS search confirmed Cunningham was a convicted felon. When his person was searched they found 4.37 grams of marijuana, 1.33 grams of black tar heroin, 1.6 grams of blue heroin, 2.2 grams of methamphetamine, five pocket knives, 1 handgun, a small spoon, and a small pipe. Cunningham confessed to owning the handgun and knives as well as taking the merchandise.

Christopher Cunningham was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, felon in possession of a handgun, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $11,000.
