42-year-old Anita Leonard was charged with driving under the influence, 4th offense, after driving through a construction site while intoxicated.

On August 19th, Officer Janelle Keslar was contacted by Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) due to someone driving through a construction site which was blocked off by cones at the Hickory Hollow Parkway exit on Interstate-24 East. The THP trooper had seen the vehicle drive up the ramp and thought it may have been a worker until it got closer. A traffic stop was conducted and the trooper noticed the driver, Anita Leonard, seemed lethargic and was slurring her speech.

It also appeared that Leonard had peed on herself and was unsure of where she was. When Officer Keslar arrived on the scene she spoke with Leonard and noticed dilated, bloodshot, and watery eyes. The officer also noted that she seemed to have urinated on herself. She showed several indicators of intoxication during the standardized field sobriety tests. Leonard told the officer that she had taken 30 mg of Sumatra for anxiety. She has three prior convictions of driving under the influence in 2007, 2008, and 2015.

Anita Leonard was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, 4th offense. Her bond was set at $10,000.
