20-year-old Antonio Bonds was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after busting into his ex-girlfriend’s party with six to eight other people and smashing her in the head with a glass bottle.
On August 9th, officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving Antonio Bonds and Shakita Johnson. Johnson told officers she and Travon Burden had checked in to Best Western Room 119 at 825 Murfreesboro Pike. She stated that they were having a party with their friends when Bonds showed up with six to eight other people which neither she nor Burden knew. Burden said Bonds pushed his way into the room and began berating Ms. Johnson and eventually pushed her until she hit him in self-defense. Bonds retaliated, attacking Johnson, and the people who came with him took to fighting Mr. Burden.
During the altercation Burden saw Bond hit Ms. Johnson in the head with a glass bottle. He then took off toward his vehicle, and Burden followed. Burden said he heard gunshots and witnessed a gun pointed in his direction, but could not tell by whom. Johnson had a visible injury from being hit with the glass bottle. She claimed she had not seen who hit her after being transported to Saint Thomas Midtown by the Nashville Fire Department. Officers submitted six .45 shell casings into Metro Nashville Police Department evidence.
Antonio Bonds was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $25,000.
